Garden tillers are a tool that are used to cultivate soil in order to break it up and make growing plants or grass more easily. For home gardeners a roto tiller can be an invaluable tool because of the amount of time it can save you. However, there are several factors to consider when buying a rototiller.
Garden roto tillers come in two different forms, gas powered and electric powered. Both models have their advantages and disadvantages.
Electric tillers are much lower priced then gas rototillers. They are also much quieter because they are electric powered. They are much easier to maneuver because of their size and they will get into tight areas with ease. However, they have much less powered when compared to gas models and will have a tougher time breaking hard soil. They are also much small and therefore will not cover as much ground and will make large projects very time consuming.
Gas tillers are higher in price when compared to electric models. They are also much nosier because of the gas engine and will also require much more maintenance. However, gas roto tillers are a great tool for breaking hard soil and for cultivating a lot of ground in little time. They also have larger tines that can dig deeper much more easily.
When it comes time to buy a garden tiller you want to consider several factors. The first factor is how much land you plan on tilling. If you only have a small garden then an electric tiller will be a great choice. Secondly, how hard is the soil you plan on cultivating? If you are going to be break up very hard soil then a gas roto tiller is going to make that job much easier and will get it done quicker. Third is price. If you are looking to spend as little money as possible then an electric garden tiller will be your choice. They are much cheaper then gas models.
Roto tillers are a great tool to have and can make gardening much easier. However, make sure to do your research before you buy a garden roto tiller to make sure you get one that meets your needs and you do not end up with more tiller then you need.
